Set up Transaction Recording Workflows

Once your chart structure is set up and rules are defined, you can integrate them into the operational side of the ledger. By creating instructions, movements, and postings, you can seamlessly manage and execute a variety of ledger use cases.

Operational Concepts

  • Instructions: Instructions act as containers for financial operations. Each instruction may contain multiple movements or activities. Example: An instruction may initiate a fund transfer from a customer’s liability wallet to a corporate asset wallet. Learn how to create instructions.

  • Movements: Movements represent individual value transfers between wallets, such as debiting one wallet and crediting another. Learn how to manage movements.

  • Postings: Every movement generates postings to update wallet balances. Postings ensure ledger balances are consistent and auditable. Learn how to manage postings.

Key Fields

  • Instruction ID: A unique identifier for the operation.

  • Activity: Describes actions like crediting or debiting wallets.

  • Attributes: Metadata associated with the transaction.

Example Use Cases

  1. Processing Payments: Record a customer payment by debiting their wallet and crediting the company wallet.

  2. Transferring Funds: Move funds between internal accounts or to external group accounts.

  3. Auditing Transactions: Review and reconcile postings using the /api/v1/operation/ endpoint.
